Bolivia government switches, will allow expanded use of genetically modified foods
LA PAZ, Bolivia — A leading champion of the battle against genetically modified food is switching sides.

The government of Bolivian President Evo Morales confirms it has sent Congress a measure to ease the use of genetically modified foods.

1. yeah, I remember this
For years, Morales has been a critic of GM foods, saying they harm the earth and require harmful chemicals. He suggested last year they might contribute to baldness.


I think you do have to look at yield and make decisions accordingly. if food production isn't what it needs to be, then other options need to be explored. given they are food crops, I don't think there is much of threat to the natural ecosystem. on the other hand, more land clearing for more production certainly is harmful to the ecosystem.

2. To be honest I think we don't need GM foods but if we do they should be public domain...
...and patent unencumbered.
