Salvadoran President Funes makes groundbreaking trip to Cuba
Salvadoran President Funes makes groundbreaking trip to Cuba
Oct 5, 2010, 13:23 GMT

Havana - Salvadoran President Mauricio Funes on Monday became the first head of state from his country in half a century to visit Cuba, meeting with Cuban President Raul Castro.

At the start of a three-day visit, Funes said that he wanted to repair a 'historic error.' He said that his predecessors had acted on ideology rather than the good of the Salvadoran people since following the rest of Latin America in breaking off relations with communist Cuba starting in 1961.

'It makes no sense to suspend diplomatic relations for 50 years,' Funes said.

A former journalist and presidential nominee of the left-wing FMLN, Funes was elected in March 2009 and on June 1, 2009 - his first day in office - re-established ties with Cuba.

2. They're just not going to like this "revolting developement!"
Maybe Tony Saca can make a public statement rebuking Funes.

3. The American enemies list is getting longer and longer.
How long before we are re-reminded that Salvador is a "narco state". LOL
