2. One hell of a piss-poor coup.
Who plans a coup without the Army, or at least getting the Army to take no position?

The U.S. is getting rusty. Either that, or it's a local issue.

The U.S. is "closely monitoring the situation."

Not "condemning" the coup attempt or expressing support for Ecuador's democracy.

Guess Hillary is sitting back to see if the coup is successful before saying anything else.

6. The army is going in to rescue Correa



El mandatario ecuatoriano, Rafael Correa, continúa “secuestrado” (como el mismo lo ha señalado) en el tercer piso del hospital de la Policía Nacional impedido de salir hacia el Palacio de Carondelet. En los exteriores de la casa de salud los policías manifestantes se enfrentan con miembros de las FFAA.
Los militares están desalojando el lugar y en el ambiente se escucha el cruce de disparos y de bombas lacrimógenas.

Correa is being held on the third floor of the police hospital. Rebellious police are clashing with army troops outside the hospital. There is gunfire and tear gas explosions.
