Juan Barahona, leader of the resistance, today left the negotiations between the Zelayistas and the goriletti golpistas. It was a ploy by the gorilettis who insisted Barahona sign the documents being negotiated. Barahona declined, because he represents the pueblo, not the Zelaya government.
This is a bad sign for the outcome of the talks. Zelaya just spoke on Globo and he said elections without his restitution would be a "joke."
Asked if he was optimistic about his restitution, Zelaya, chuckling, said that he was a "man of faith" but that any accord would be a "miracle."
He said that Micheletti is preparing another "bofetada" (slap) to the Honduran pueblo and the international community.
Meanwhile, in Brussels, the EU today asked Spain to compile a list of all the top gorilettis who support the coup so that they can be banned from entering the EU's 27 member nations.
