Narconews issues retraction. Congressman Cesar Ham not dead!
Correction: Honduran Presidential Candidate Is Still Alive
http://narcosphere.narconews.com/notebook/kristin-bricker/2009/06/correction-honduran-presidential-candidate-still-alive

Congressman Cesar Ham is a Zelaya Ally and Organizer of the Opinion Poll on a New Constitution

Correction: News reports translated by Narco News on Monday that Honduran political leader Cesar Ham had been assassinated appear not to be accurate. This report says otherwise, that Ham is alive and well. We apologize for any confusion caused by our first report, and share in the world's relief that the reports we initially translated were inaccurate.

They insist that leftist leader and honduran Cesar Ham is alive and safe
by Chevige Gonzalez Marco, Aporrea

Luther Castillo, coordinator of Honduran social movements, in an interview with the Cuban television program Mesa Redonda, denied that the leader of the Democratic Unification Party, Cesar Ham, has been assassinated.

Castillo also denied that Ham has been detained and said that he remains in a secure location, faced with the possibility of repression by the coup leaders.

Initial versions published by the Notimex Agency stated that Cesar Ham, congressman for the Democratic Unification Party of Honduras, had died yesterday when he was being arrested in his house, according to confirmations provided by alleged police sources.

With respect to the situation of the leaders of the Democratic Unification Party, an organization that was born out of the fusion of historically left forces in Honduras, Deputy Thomas Andino Mencias, stated that the his party's parliamentarians did not participate in the congressional session because they are being detained by the military for not approving the usurpation of the legislative branch.

Mencias argued that the Congress is usurping the Executive Branch because according to the Honduras Constitution this is an act classified as treason.

2. Unexpected good news. Hopefully they won't be able to keep him from running
in the next Presidential election, then, even though they've graphifally illustrated to him his ass is grass if they decide to come after him again, IF they allow him to go home, finally.

Thanks for posting.

4. Greatly relieved to hear this! Cesar Ham is the ONLY leftist candidate for president
in the November election.

Mencias makes a good point that what the rightwing coupsters did was treason. Also, I'm glad to hear that there was dissent and objection within the Honduran legislature.

Again, GREAT RELIEF that Congressman Ham is alive! I was very worried about the report that he was murdered, given the shutdown of the media in Honduras and the sporadic nature of reports. But I don't think leftist politicians and activists, and other Zelaya supporters such as union leaders and peasant farmers, are out of the woods yet. We don't know who's been detained or 'disappeared.' When fascists shut down a society, and muzzle news reports, and turn off the electricity, and surround public buildings and TV stations with troops, you've got to figure they're up to no good and no one is safe.

5. We don't know.
The Salvador option is ALWAYS on the table when SOA henchmen are involved. I suspect am sure that targeted assassinations/disappearings are happening right now. Rumors fly of who's dead/not dead to confuse.
