Goodmorning - Biden is getting crap this morning already
I feel so sorry for him -

He was on the Today show and was asked about the Swine flu. He said he would advise his family members to stay off of public transportation or any place that is enclosed.

Oh please - I agree with him 100%....

even Contessa Brewer (msnbc) said Biden just said what everyone is thinking.

I guess both his office and the WH are sending out a statement trying to back track his message.
But aren't they the ones that are sending out a mixed message? Wash your hands. Close the schools.

Schools are closing all over the world...the flu is spreading more every day.

Once again, Joe is the truth teller.

1. Yup. God forbid any public official should ever tell us the truth on anything.
Maybe its the Catholic guilt in him, he can't lie!
Seriously, I have diabetes and need to be really extra cautious because when I get sick with even a cold my blood sugar goes way high and then my immune system gets really compromised. I am staying away from public enclosed areas.
Also, he was asked a personal question, sort of a gotcha question. Typical of the media.

2. Oh my - I'm getting pissed. 4 more cases were just reported.
I had to make an appointment for my daughter to get a test done at the hospital - and they told me they are on total lockdown.

And the msm won't shut up about what Biden said this morning?

4. Its starting to get a bit worrisome. I don't panic in general because I have
faced some bad bouts of diabetes-related complications before even though I am only 33 and nothing fazes me. But I wonder how long until all flights to Mexico are canceled. I know some schools have been closed. Mass has a case and it looks like some people are sick in CT too (where I live).

8. Thanks. We are going on vacation to NH soon but we are driving so
that should be no problem. I dread getting sick all the time but I am past the point of panic in my life.

6. I don't know if it will do any good but
I just went to Whitehouse.gov and told them that they are sending mixed messages about the flu, and that what Biden said was correct and honest.

with public transportation. He knows first hand about the coughing, sneezing, blowing of noses, etc., the close quarters, stale and shared air in a train, bus or plane. He speaks truth with power.

10. What I want to know is when the first case of swine flu is being reported as
being spread on an airplane, will the media apologize to Joe?

grrr - as you can tell - I am pissed.

14. Ezra Klein says
"But here's the thing: Biden may be right to induce a bit of panic. The United States Travel Association won't think so. It's their profit stream on the line, after all. But epidemiologists are probably quietly relieved by the Vice President's comments."

I've always liked Ezra Klein and he tends to make a lot sense. Rare in the media.

17. Thank goodness for Ezra Klein - I have been out all afternoon and wondering
why NO ONE in the media is coming to Joe's defense?

This morning, I was all over the internet reading about what other people are saying about Joe's comments - and I'd say it's about 70% of the posters agree with Joe.

He was talking about his family, for goodness gracious!

18. I noticed that as well
Biden has often been vindicated for things he's done and said, but the media generally ignores that vindication.

25. I think reactions
are contingent on person's perception of Joe. Those who say "it was stupid" didn't have much respect for Joe in the first place.

I have to quit listening to these people!

12. Those students in NY probably came back on the same plane,
so wonder if they're checking other passengers who were on the same flight.

The media apologize to Joe??? That will the day!!!

15. Now a White House aide most likely has it. Are we going to finally start advising people
not to get on a plane? The aide went to Mexico City with Energy Secretary Chu.

13. Honestly, I think sometimes they want to take what he says & turn it into a gaffe.
What he said is just common sense. How many threads are we going to have on this compared to the story about him standing up to domestic abuse?

Most of you have already seen this story, but if not, here's what I'm talking about.

You know, usually the online message boards are hateful to him, but so many of them today say, well, yeah, isn't that common sense?

Did the media outrage folks never take middle school biology? I had to do units on basic epidemiology in classes in college and grad school, and Joe is right!! Gah!!!

What the heck was Joe thinking?

Oh, that. :banghead:

Just like at Huffington Post, the majority of people agree with what Joe said.
