Another republican leadership seat has gone Democrat. Childers has won Trent Lott old seat in Mississippi. Can you believe it?

This doesn't look good for the republican in the fall. I don't know what will happen with the Presidential race, but a Democratic House and Senate is looking good.

I remember once when Joe was asked about the Senate having trouble getting stuff passed, said "send me 50 more Democrats". And we're working on it! Thanks, Mississippi! :toast:

EDIT to add -- a recent pole here (NC) said the Democrat challenger to Liddy Dole's Sen seat was tied with her. I honestly thought she'd stay there until she died and that North Carolinians would continue to vote for her. It's premature, but encouraging news nonetheless!

2. This stuff has been happening under the radar because of the Dem Presidential race
When Dennis Hastert's seat went Democrat, I thought "Hmmm, that's interesting". I was surprised, the Repubs had held that seat for 30 years.

Last week, a seat in Louisiana went Democrat that had been held by the Repubs for 20 years. And now a seat in Ruby Red Mississippi has gone Dem. I never in my wildest dreams thought a Dem could take a republican seat in Mississippi. Oh, I was wrong about Trett Lott seat...this is the seat that was held by Trett Lott's replacement.

I'm afraid to hope that people have finally had enough, but I'm seeing evidence of that. I went over to FR to see how they were taking this. They are in despair...someone even suggested that maybe they could keep Bush from appearing at the convention. Ha Ha

Forget Vice-President for Joe. Imagine what he could do with a real majority.

P.S. Good news about Libby Dole. Fingers crossed.
