AOL news columnist says we should "thank the rich".

If opinions and "news" like this is all AOL has to offer beyond dial-up internet access, they are pretty much doomed. haha

http://www.aolnews.com/opinion/article/opinion-show-some-gratitude-to-the-rich/19752526

(Dec. 9) -- I have an idea for a monument in our nation's capital. I envision a big bronze and granite statue that would honor an entire group of Americans who are true heroes, and unsung heroes at that.

It is time -- no, make that long past time -- to pay tribute to those to whom this nation of ours owes a great debt; to those who give and give and give and in return get anything but our gratitude.

This is an idea whose time has finally come.

Right there, among the sacred national structures that honor great Americans, we need to build a shiny monument to ... (this is where the drum roll would come in) The Rich -- otherwise known in liberal circles as the filthy, no-good, greedy, heartless rich.

The statue could be simple and elegant: a rich guy in a business suit holding hundred-dollar bills in both hands, extended toward the blue sky.

5. Leave the filthy rich people ALONE!!
Edited on Fri Dec-10-10 09:50 AM by Wednesdays
And how fucking dare anyone out there make fun of rich people after all they've been through!

They lost their multimillion-dollar bonuses, they went through a tax hike. They had two fucking yachts. Their GOP Party turned out to be a user, a cheater, and now they're going through a teaparty battle. All you people care about is...readers and making money off of them.

They're HUMAN!

What you don’t realize is that rich people are making you all this money and all you do is write a bunch of crap about them.

They haven't backed social programs in years. Their motto is "gimme more" for a reason. Because all you people want is MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE.

LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!

You're lucky they even give jobs to you BASTARDS!

LEAVE THE FILTHY RICH ALONE!!! Please.

Perez Hilton talked about professionalism and said if rich people were professional they would’ve pulled it off no matter what. Speaking of professionalism, when is it professional to publicly BASH people who are going through a hard time?

LEAVE THE RICH ALONE!!! Please…

Leave the filthy rich people alone!…right NOW!…I mean it.

Anyone that has a problem with them, you deal with me, because they're not well right now.

Leave them alone...

14. Why should the wealthy always have to pay more taxes than their poor "bottom wage" workers??!!!
How is this fair at all?!! The rich ALWAYS have to pay for their poor workers' foodstamps handouts that they buy swordfish and junk food with AND THEY DON"T EVEN SAY THANK YOU!! Then they have the nerve to call the rich names!

:argh:

7. This Ayn Rand nonsensical myth of the rich being "producers" has to end.

If anyone is deserving of the her term "moochers" it is the rich elite, who glean their wealth from the middle class, who do all of the actual work.

8. "But try to imagine an America without those rich people. "
OK, asshole. Here's what I imagine -

No monopolies.

Far less "Big Box Marts."

No CEOs "earning" 400-500 times what their average worker does.

No mega-conglomerates dictating who lives and dies.

Universal Health Care.

No Pravda-esque agitprop channels disguised as news outlets.

Higher wages.

Way more unions.

Way more small businesses.

More women's rights in the workplace, such as pay equal to their male counterparts and 1-year paid maternity leave.

Flourishing entrepreneurship.

Better service.

Way more democratically-run employee-operated co-ops.

More sustainable homes.

More sustainable communities.

Better schools and libraries.

Better run hospitals.

Less demonization of and more help for the poor and unfortunate.

Fairer tax structure.

No bullshit wars for profit at the expense of social programs.

No "Idiocratic" future.

Yes, Bernie, life would be a SMOLDERING HELL ON EARTH!!! Thank GOD we run 'Murka just like a corporation whut caters to the wealthy first and foremost . . . TRULY that's the better option.

9. Hey Bernie - how about special love for those who inherited
their load? Who have done nothing for that shitload of money they have? Those are the ones to really admire.

Love this paragraph:
By the way, the bottom 50 percent of wage earners pay a paltry 2.7 percent of our federal income taxes. How many poor people do you think their tax dollars are taking care of? If you ask me, they're the ones not paying their fair share. Every time they pass a "rich" person on the street, they ought to say, "Thank you for everything you do me and for this country."

12. I really thought this was satire when I started reading it

and then I realized this guy is serious.

...................

"But try to imagine an America without those rich people.

By the way, the bottom 50 percent of wage earners pay a paltry 2.7 percent of our federal income taxes. How many poor people do you think their tax dollars are taking care of? If you ask me, they're the ones not paying their fair share. Every time they pass a "rich" person on the street, they ought to say, "Thank you for everything you do me and for this country."

....................

So the ungrateful bottom wage earners should pay all the taxes and then thank every rich person they pass by for keeping them in poverty.

13. Oooooh, this guy needs field-goal kicked in the balls for that remark.
The bottom 50 percent of Americans also hold less than one percent of the nation’s wealth, whereas the top 10% earning familes own 71 percent of it.

editing to add I sure hope this is satire.

Though my original thought stands. Don't think so? Check out published authors, limbaugh, beck, coulter, et. al.
