After the latest vote
I was seriously considering running for congress. If I can find a way to do it I just may do it

But....

you knew that was coming

Our system is so damn broken, that a person like myself, middle class, or lower middle class, even with no debt, cannot do this

Why am I saying this?

Well leave the lack of connections... here is your true barrier

http://www.opensecrets.org/bigpicture/stats.asp

Now you tell me...

Why would somebody (I don't care what party at this point) would want a job that pays what 150K a year, for two years, when it costs on average $1,034,873 to get into thee game?

this forks tells you all you need to know about how broken the system is

And sadly, this is also partly why you saw the vote you saw. They need to go back to that corporate tit, or they will not get enough money to run

No way a congress critter can afford to run on his or her own money.

And why Lamont used his own estate.

4. Nothing will change until this changes
We simply must sever the money relationship between the corporations/MIC and the government if we ever hope to call it OUR government again.

There is no use trying to get into the government to effect change. If you don't play by their rules once you get there, if you don't stroke the right people, you'll get nothing done. Long gone are the days of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington". The last person who did that, who was of that merit, was Paul Wellstone...and we know what happened to him.

6. Well, the chickens sure as heck aren't going to either
At least not any time soon. We're in for some lengthy suffering before real change will happen.

7. I said the other day that I had the feeling that
something was commign down the pike, something big, and not good

Between this vote, the I Claudius moment and how hard it is for you and me to actually challenge them... I am starting to agree with malloy

And as is, we are on the edge of a very dark precipice
