AP: No evidence that WikiLeaks releases have hurt anyone

It sounds like the WikiLeaks disclosures are primarily politically hazardous.

American officials in recent days have warned repeatedly that the release of documents by WikiLeaks could put people's lives in danger.

But despite similar warnings before the previous two releases of classified U.S. intelligence reports by the website, U.S. officials concede that they have no evidence to date that the documents led to anyone's death.

Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell has said previously that there was no evidence that anyone had been killed because of the leaks. Sunday, another Pentagon official told McClatchy that the military still has no evidence that the leaks have led to any deaths. The official didn't want to be named because of the issue's sensitivity.

It wasn't immediately clear how Sunday's release would endanger secret U.S. programs, though it wasn't difficult to conclude that some of the releases could endanger local officials' political futures.

the impact of a less than day-old leak yet?

This story is curious (not saying anything will happen), but people are still reading the documents, and there is more to come.

If the intelligence revealed in the leaks affords a real or potential adversary an edge on the battlefield or in diplomatic circles, it's quite possible that nobody else--including the U.S. government--will ever know that they gained that edge because of something they got out of the leaks.

10. The US government was sloppy. No low-level personnel

should have had access to that much secret information. I suspect that most of the stuff is gossip and not really secret at all. It's mostly just kept an official secret because that is what diplomats do.

Do you think that the Iranians don't know that a lot of their neighbors detest them? There is nothing new in that information.

It's been less than 1 day, and that's a lot of documents to sift through. Doesn't it seem a bit early to declare "no one has been hurt" by the leak? I hope it continues to be true, but waaaay to early to claim victory on that front, imo.
