TSA Agent Arrested On Sexual Assault & (Statutory) Rape Charges
Logan employee accused of raping 14-year-old girl

WINTHROP, Mass. -- A Transportation Security Administration worker at Logan International Airport is accused of assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

Sean Shanahan, 45, of Winthrop is being held on $50,000 cash bail following his arraignment in East Boston District Court. He is charged with statutory rape, enticement of a child and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or older.

...

"The defendant stated to us that it was in fact a 'sexting' relationship…they were sending inappropriate text messages to each other of an inappropriate nature," said Lt. Brian Perrin of the Winthrop Police Department.

Police said the inappropriate contact escalated and Shanahan had physical sexual contact with the girl at his Winthrop home in February over school break.

8. There are pedophiles and rapists in all works of life. What does being a TSA agent have to do with
what he did?

9. Some occupations are prone to that sort of thing

Particularly occupations which desensitize people to appropriate boundaries.

Take strippers for example:

SANFORD — A stripper pleaded guilty Wednesday to a murder resulting from a botched plot to rob one of her customers.

Excerpt:

ATLANTA -- Channel 2 Action News has learned a TSA security worker accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a woman had previously been convicted of misdemeanor harassment and stalking.

Randall King remains hospitalized following a suicide attempt. Police said last Wednesday, King agreed to drive a woman home from the airport. Instead, investigators said King took her to a MARTA station parking lot and placed novelty handcuffs on her.

TSA Worker Accused Of Assault Has Troubled Past

Investigators said he drove her 50 miles away to his home in Troup County and sexually assaulted her. The woman told police that King gave her a suicide note, his car and let her go, investigators said.

A spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration said privacy laws precluded him from releasing any background information on King.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Regan reviewed court records from Clinton County, Pennsylvania. According to the records, King was charged with nine offenses of harassment and stalking by communication in January 2001. A court clerk told Regan that King pleaded guilty and spent three months in jail for skipping a court appearance.

TSA has a long list of “disqualifying offenses” for employment at the federal agency that operates airport security. Those offenses include felonies, violent crimes, theft, and crimes involving security and transportation. Regan checked the list and found that it did not include misdemeanor offenses of harassing and stalking.

12. They Come In All Shapes...
I'm against much of the new TSA policies as being counter-productive and intrusive. That said, this incident and individual has nothing to do with that matter. Firstly, this predation took place last February...long before new TSA rules were put into play. Most important, is we have these type of predators in all walks of life. This shitbag definitely should be prosecuted to the fullest extent but trying to smear the TSA with this is unfair as a means to attempt to broadbrush the entire agency. It has plenty of problems as mentioned in the numerous threads here, this is not one of them.
