Anyone here stopped for DWB? Did you get a pat down?

she was searched..car opened..things taken out of the car..left and strewn on the highway...her DWB crime? She drives a BMW 750i..she's a cardic dr..

she was stopped 4 times in one night, I know because I was sitting in the passenger seat...We joked that they must be radioing ahead while we were going down the highway..

3. My neighbor was stopped 42 times last year (he started keeping track) and was

searched every time. Not one ticket issued, he was guilty of nothing but DWB in a lowrider.

Please don't misconstrue what I am saying. Non-cause profiling that equates to DWB is to be condemned. Period. But to use a term so benign as to imply a mere "pat down" for what TSA is doing is not simply ludicrous, it is to be the "good German" IMO.

treated after being stopped for DWB is a lot worse than the TSA, I agree.,

I'm only saying that if you are trying to make a point that it is unilaterally worse or equivalent to what TSA is doing, I can not agree. What TSA is doing is out of control and should not be referred to in terms of the benign wording that they are promoting. It is genital groping, plain and simple, which would land anyone outside a TSA uniform in jail.

I have lived in cities where the entire police department was put under fire, pending a civilian review of procedures. I don't know how effective those measures have been, but it has certainly not been my experience that minority targeting is without concern or controversy. Of course that is no doubt variable across the country. Arguably Latinos may be feeling far more of the brunt in the Southwest, given all the anti-immigrant bigotry.

States like North and South Dakota have likewise long perpetrated appalling levels of law enforcement bigotry towards Native Americans, which never gets more than regional reporting.

None of it is acceptable. For those who suggest that the answer to TSA's current debacle is simply to racially/ethnically profile Muslims really ought to take some time to review the ways that Israel, long considered the best in this arena, screen. Given the numbers of Israeli Arabs and the ethnic similarities of peoples from the region, they can not and do not simply rely on someone's looks to develop a "profile".... There are aspects of behavior that are universal across populations that can trigger their suspicion. It is these traits that they use to develop their suspicion and to determine a need for additional screening.

Most don't notice unless it;s something they will experience. Most aren't outraged until it happens to them.

And yes, i'm glad that "average Americans" now are understanding what it's like to be considered a criminal for doing something as mundane as riding on an airplane.

It's wrong for you, it's wrong for people of color, the poor, for anyone who is treated this way.
