3. You forgot universal health care.
Even the Catfood Commission recognized the cost savings to be had there.

Catching up to the civilized world would be nice...

I have medical insurance but can't afford to use it. How screwed up is that?.

8. Screwed up and very common.
It's a good deal for the insurance companies, though.

7. Because Chindia would retaliate
The Zeitgeist aside, we still have the largest manufacturing sector in the world, and it relies heavily on exporting. (It's just that we import more.)

6. WPA, CCC, etc. never got unemployment below 15%
It's not clear it would do that today, either, sadly.

9. Since thats where it is now-about-it couldn't hurt!!
Also-there are more than enough public works projects long overdue & crumbling infrastructure.

Also a whole generation needs to re-learn how to fix & make things. There are some who don't do well in a office job-me for example-who thrive when given a chance to work with their hands.

Its almost a lost art fixing things & schools should re- emphasize industrial skills.

A no brainer wich means the Repugnant ones would never let it pass. Might actually help & all that.

So I know it's a pipe dream for the forseable future.

But that doesn't mean it wouldn't work-I know it would.
