Why not propose a *flat* tax cut instead?
Let all the Bush tax cuts expire as scheduled. (Yes, including the ones *you* benefit from)

Then, figure up how much money this saves each year. Take that amount, and divide by the number of taxpayers. Everyone then gets that exact amount of reduction in their taxes going forward. If it reduces their liability to zero, the balance is refundable.

For example, if the number came up to $2,400 per taxpayer, then a taxpayer making $50,000 would have taxes reduced by $2,400. A taxpayer making $1,000,000 would also get the same $2,400 reduction. It would be an even across-the-board tax cut.

It would be fun to see the Republicans argue against that. They would call it "socialism" but I don't think that even the brainwashed American people would fall for that. Espicially if it meant lots more money in their own pockets - which it would for most people.

2. Because we can't afford more tax cuts -- "flat" or otherwise.
The notion that $250K/year = "middle class" is absurd in the first place. The median household income in the country is $46,000/year.

3. They are going to happen regardless.
Why not try to steer them towards the masses, or at least position the Republicans in to arguing *against* that.

6. No they wouldn't
the pukes want a flat tax period, not a tax cut that provides the same cut regardless of income or tax paid. They would go absolutely ballistic over this. I think it would be kind of interesting if they could make the numbers work but I don't know if it would be feasible. At the very least it would be funny watching the pukes try to explain why they think their rich asshole donors deserve even more than anyone else.

5. Perhaps call it "uniform" tax deduction,
but your idea is appealing.

The "flat" part will only give the GOP a talking point because we all know their counter-argument: We make more, so we deserve a bigger cut.
