Hate radio's curious obsession with Edwards' haircut
You know that at some point the heavy weights in the hate radio entertainment business e.g. Hannity, Limbaugh have gotten expensive haircuts. I mean, Limbaugh once boasted about taking Limousines to the grocery store and buying out entire theaters to watch a movie. I'd like to see Larry Flynt step in here and track down some of these douchebags hair cut receipts.

I've heard their counter-argument, that Edwards wants to help the poor and yet he gets $400 haircuts and gives $50,000 speeches ... but Edwards isn't an anti-capitalist, is he? He's a rich guy who wants to help poor people, which to me seems more noble than a rich guy who wants to be president on the backs of 3,000 dead people.

DISCLAIMER - Edwards is NOT my candidate. I just want to discuss the right's odd obsession with the price of his haircut.

1. This is what they do- and in America these days, it's effective
Which is why it's profoundly stupid for candidates to give them gratuitous ammunition.

2. Well, Thank You
I am an Edwards supporter.
Not all Liberals (or Progressives) are Socialists who think the answer to poverty is giving up wealth. Not all environmentalists think the solution to global climate change is to go off the grid and quit driving.

But, many Conservatives see us that way. So to them, what Edwards does seems hypocritical. To normal, sane and rational people it's a little excessive, but, hey, we all have our indulgences. Besides, there are so manu more important issues to discuss.

4. The strategy against edwards is to put the gay on him.
Thus the focus on his appearance, the 'breck girl' comments, the outright faggot calling by what's her name.

For Clinton the focus is on, as usual for woman leaders, her 'shrillness': the portrayal of strength in women as inappropriate, concurrent with the portrayal of women in positions of power as equally inappropriate.

As we have seen for Obama the attack takes the form of outright linkage with al qaida (obama/osama) and other anti-muslim nonsense, all ignoring that he is a christian.

It is all of the same pattern: inane and indefensible and completely superfical attacks on appearance, on gender, on faith. ON ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE GATHERING CRISIS WE FIND OURSELVES IN. Gee, mostly a rerun of the anti-kerry campaign. And, as usual, our professional concern trolls here will waste our time catapulting the propaganda.

5. I read a good analysis of this the other day and it has to do with
Edited on Wed May-23-07 04:51 PM by Morgana LaFey
both homophobia and wedge politics. I wish I remembered where I saw this analysis, but more and more I see that it's true.

Basically, the Republicans want to "feminize" the Dem candidates, which makes them more beatable (thanks to homophobia). What better way than to make Edwards "the Breck girl," and to talk about him being in "beauty shops" and taking inordinate time and care with his hair?

Hah! endarkenment said it better than I.

6. There trying to say he's gay
I think they're going to have to come up with something better. I'm not sure this kind of swiftboating is going fly with American public. But then again I didn't think the swiftboating of Kerry would work, but it did.

I think all this proves is there are allot of dumbass Americans out there that care about Edwards' Hair more than real issues, otherwise douchebags like limpballs and hannity wouldn't be on the air.

7. GAYGAYGAYGAYGAYGAY (ad naseum)
That is the message. Soul-less AnnC. said out~loud and the others are just playing along with a wink and a nudge. It is a despicable but obvious thing for them to do since they don't have anything substantive to attack Edwards with. On the other hand the aspersions made in regards to Jeff Gannon Karl "Turd-blossom" Rove are deemed baseless. How any self~respecting gay man or woman could support the republican party is beyond me. For me, as a gay male, I find support in my fellow Democrats where I don't have to put up with insulting innuendos in order to "fit in".
