History Quiz: Yearly GDP growth under FDR's New Deal?
Most thinking Americans know that FDR instituted the New Deal upon inauguration in 1933, and know that this immediately halted the country's economic free fall. The New Deal focused on getting aid directly to working Americans, rather than going the trickle down route of giving money to corporations. But how successful was it? Are the Republicans telling the truth when they say it wasn't much help at all, or that it hurt our economy?

Anyone out there in DU Land who can show their mastery of history by telling us what the GDP's annual compound growth rate was from 1933-1937? (The New Deal's "salad days" ended in 1937 when FDR decided to cut the deficit.)

For extra credit - by approximately what percentage did the unemployment rate drop during that same period?
