THIS is how you protest!
From Phil Plait's Bad Astronomy blog:

This man was protesting the APEC conference in Korea in 2005 — but I don’t want to focus on what specifically he was protesting. Instead, look at his face and his stance. The underdog-cheering American in me has to admire not just this man’s defiance, but also his look of “Is that all you’ve got?” coupled with “I shall not yield!”

There are things worth fighting for. There are things worth being hurt for. There are things worth standing up and defying for.

With a list of injustices on this planet a mile long, what do you stand up for?

Well said, Phil! When will Americans reach the point where they're able to take a stand like this courageous man, like the French, like the Chinese protesters in Tiananmen Square.

2. Won't happen until real discomfort hits home.
When the muddle (yes, muddle) class really starts hurting badly, suddenly consciences will be miraculously discovered everywhere. Not until then.

3. keep this in mind: the Korean and Chinese protesters LOST.
protesting gets attention, but it's largely ineffective.

4. Protests like this are good for morale but probably ineffective
a couple of well-aimed truck bombs would probably work better
