If Corporations can now make campaign contributions
because they are corporate "persons",why are they not held to the same limits as individuals?

Individual contribution limits for 2009-2010

The following limits apply to contributions from individuals to candidates for all Federal offices.

$2,400 per Election to a Federal candidate -- Each primary, runoff, and general election counts as a separate election.
$30,400 per calendar year to a national party committee -- applies separately to a party's national committee, and House and Senate campaign committee.
$10,000 per calendar year to state, district & local party committees
$5,000 per calendar year to state, district & local party committee
Aggregate Total -- $115,500 per two-year election cycle as follows:

$45,600 per two-year cycle to candidates
$69,000 per two-year cycle to all national party committees and PACs

1. If you're thinking of corporate direct or shadow
advertising for political candidates, that is not covered by campaign laws. The Citizens United ruling said that anybody, be they corporation, union, or individual can directly advertise for the benefit of their favored candidate. This was a freedom of speech ruling. There are no limits to the spending. Now, there are still rules about contributions to a politician's campaign or directly to a political party, but that is a different thing altogether.

2. I am.
But why is Freedom of Speech (spelled $$$) limited for campaign contributions, and not for advertising? It is either all Freedom of Speech, or it isn't.

Shouldn't the limits on direct contributions also be reflected in the amounts an "individual" is permitted to spend on other forms of political spending?
