GOP to investigate ‘scientific fraud’ of global warming: report

Fresh off a dramatic victory in which it retook the House leadership, the Republican Party intends to hold major hearings probing the supposed "scientific fraud" behind global warming.

The Atlantic's Marc Ambinder related the news in a little-noticed article Wednesday morning.

The effort is a likely attempt to out-step the White House on energy policy moving forward. Legislation on energy and climate change reform, one of President Barack Obama campaign promises, has yet to materialize, though Obama's EPA recently classified carbon dioxide as a pollutant.

Holding hearings would please the Republicans' conservative base, which increasingly doubts the scientific basis for global warming -- especially human-induced global warming -- and provide a reflection of the new GOP's tenor.

3. You know, in a sane world, this would be a good thing.
They would hold hearings and the mountains of evidence would expose their stupidity to the world. But I have no illusions that these "hearings" will consist of real scientists going over real data.

:sigh:

6. ROFLMAO. Michelle Bachman vs. Al Gore! Who wins?
Way to make yourself look like a laughing stock new GOP House.

Some reporter once said that Bush was better than Gore, because Bush was more fun to write about. I have a sneaking suspicion that the new GOP House is going to be a riot.

Maybe the wil investigate this "scientific fraud" called Evolution. And gravity, while they are at it.

7. After all, gravity is only a "theory."
It's really all those angels just under the surface of our flat earth sucking us down so we stay on the ground instead of flying off into the bowl-shaped sky that separates us from the heaven where all the white people are floating around with crowns and harps, yanno.

informatively,
Bright

13. The line of oil company 'scientists' will look like a Stewart/Colbert rally.
They will call in enough schills to 'conclude' not only is there no such thing as AGW and we aren't responsible for it :wtf:, but that Creationism is true, the Moon is made of ice cream, and Santa Clause is a Yankees fan.

14. Well, this should create lots of jobs
But that's not what matters to the American people, so this colossal waste of time will be, as always, good news for Republicans! Whoo hoo!
