Schwarzenegger bans welfare cards at racetracks

LOS ANGELES -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzeneger says welfare recipients can no longer use state-issued debit cards at medical marijuana shops, psychics, and other businesses whose services have been deemed "inconsistent with the intent" of the program.

The Los Angeles Times reports the Schwarzenegger sent a letter to county welfare directors Monday announcing that ATMS and point-of-sale card readers in such businesses will be removed from the network that accepts California's Electronic Benefits Transfer cards.

Other businesses affected by the ban include bail bond establishments, bingo halls, cruise ships and tattoo parlors.

In June, Schwarzenegger barred welfare cards at casino ATMs following a Times report that CalWORKS cards were used to withdraw cash in more than half the casinos in the state.

Are you telling me that before this ban, that this wall all a-okay to use welfare cards on?!

Bail bonds? So they couldn't use welfare money on bounty hunters?

But hey, I'm cool with this ban.

except for medical cannabis shops. If people need their medicine, why can't they?

16. This is bullshit. Why can't they buy medicine?
Utter fucking bullshit. I wonder how long before they start doing the same with unemployment?

How can medical cannabis be the law, yet the poor are not allowed to purchase it?

Fucking bullshit.
