Poll shows surge for O'Donnell in Delaware
DISCLAIMER...I have only posted this to offer definitive proof that, yes, CNN is comprised of a bunch of assholes.

CNN) - A surprising new Senate poll in Delaware shows Republican Christine O'Donnell may be in striking distance of Democrat Chris Coons.

According to the new survey from Monmouth University, the surprise Republican nominee is only 10 points behind Coons, drawing 41 percent of the vote. In a previous Monmouth poll conducted two weeks ago, O'Donnell trailed by 19 points.

But the latest Monmouth survey differs substantially from two other recent polls, including a Farleigh Dickinson survey released Thursday that showed a 21-point advantage for Coons and a CNN/Time poll released earlier this month that indicated a 19-point lead for Coons.

The latest Monmouth poll surveyed 1,171 voters between October 25-27 and carries a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points

3. Notice the spin
Even with this poll, she's *10* points down, but *within striking distance*?

Now if a Dem is within 5 points of a repuke frontrunner - they are called as *losing*?

WTF?

6. I was about to make the same point -- "striking distiance" for a GOPper
...versus "falling behind" or "out of reach" for a Dem seem to be two different things.

Entirely.

5. ONLY 10 points behind.
Yeah...ok. Also notice poll is singular. I'm in Delaware and there's no way she's going to win. I mean...I guess Coons could eat a baby on live TV, but that seems unlikely. I'd still vote for him since I don't really like children. :P

16. How did you ever get to be an adult without killing yourself?
I mean - since you don't like children, you wouldn't have liked yourself. :P

17. Lol. I didn't like children when I was a child, but I always somehow
managed to make an exception for myself. I was special and different from those other kids. *cough*

28. I'd like to know about a Democrat 10 points behind that CNN describes
as "surging" and in "striking distance." I doubt an example can be produced.

10. I'm seeing screaming poll headlines and then a subtle disclaimer way down in the article.
Like the one that says women and progressives are turning Repub, Obama losing support of his 2008 organization! The poll only sampled 1700 people in states that do not have a Senate race! The sample does not reflect the whole country. Then they say that the poll results may be full of shit if the Dems turn out to vote in large numbers. What the hell does turn out have to do with a real randomly sampled statistical poll. Either they did or they didn't, voter turn out doesn't change a real statistical sample which this one wasn't!

12. If she's got ten points behind Coons and she's got 41 percent....
That means he's got 51 points. So if she gets ten more points and he holds on to his 51 points, that means that 102 percent of the votes will be cast in this election.
I'm having a wido bit of trouble with the math.

14. This Poll Is From Yesterday
Do they really expect us to believe she jumped 10 points overnight?

A new Fairleigh Dickinson poll reveals a widening gap in Delaware's highly contentious Senate race.

WDEL's Amy Cherry reports.Audio Here

The poll shows Democrat Chris Coons leading Republican Christine O'Donnell by 21 points, 57 percent to 36 percent. Dr. Dan Cassino with Fairleigh Dickinson University says O'Donnell has firmed up her Republican base, but not without great cost.

"We've seen that the voters in Delaware have become increasingly polarized about Christine O'Donnell, and we're seeing that right now, she has a very unfavorable number of 44 percent, and that is up significantly."

23. I haven't done a lick of polling in Delaware but I'm real
skeptical about any O'Donnell surge.

I'm just not seeing sentient adults casting a vote for an idiot like Christine O'Donnell.

I think Coons wins this one in a cakewalk.

26. Ah yes,
her support is firming up. One might say it is hard a a steel rod. Soon, her supporters will be thrusting toward their goal, harder and harder. In a frenzy, they will stuff their manly ballots in her waiting, hot, slippery ballot box. With a shudder, and a gasp, they will spill their votes on her hungry, waiting face. And afterward, they will smoke cigarettes. Or, something like that.
