Fla. House Candidate Faces More Questions

MIAMI — Politics is bloodsport in the heavily Cuban congressional district that includes Miami, and Republican David Rivera is looking pretty banged up.
First there were the questions about a house he purchased with Senate candidate Marco Rubio that nearly fell into foreclosure.
Then there were the accusations from his opponent, Joe Garcia, that he ran a mail truck off the road in 2002 to stop an opponent’s political mailing from being delivered. And now, in the final days of the race, he is struggling to overcome criticism for inaccuracies in the financial disclosures he filed during as a four-term state representative.
The disclosure issue got its start a month ago when the Miami Herald reported that the U.S. Agency for International Development had no record of ever hiring Mr. Rivera – even though he listed the agency his main source of income outside of his statehouse job.
