Would Ronald Reagan be allowed in today's Republican Party
He grew government by over thirty percent, he submitted eight seperate tax increases with one of them being the largest tax increase in the nations history, he tried to eliminate nuclear weapons and signed both START Treaties. Is it just his line of Bullshit that makes the Tea Baggers swoon. Is that what they admire so very much. The best Bullshitter in the Republican Party...I do believe that is what they admire so much..

2. They primarily hire actors to read lines and present an image. That hasn't changed at all.
So...of course.

8. Reagan had the Top Rate SLASHED, so yes, they'd love him today.
Edited on Tue Oct-19-10 11:34 AM by WinkyDink
He hated the poor: His appointee Edwin Meese said they just wanted "free cheese."
He hated the environment: Said if you've seen one redwood, you've seen'em all. Appointed James Watt.
He was a Nazi sympathizer: Went to Bitburg cemetery where SS are buried, excusing it with, "All the WWII veterans are dead now." But he wouldn't know, as he sat in LA '41-'45, as opposed to "liberating Dachau," as he lied outright.
He hated the mentally ill (irony alert): As governor, he emptied the mental institutions in the guise of "freedom".
He hated unions: Risked the safety of millions of American citizens by firing en masse the nations' air-traffic controllers.
Hated democracy: Illegally sold weapons to Iran in order to funnel $$ to the corrupt govt of Nicaragua; aka, "Iran-Contra."

But Reagan must have been doing something slightly positive, or threatened to, else why the Right-Wing assassination plot (Hello! The Hinckley family was friends with the Bushes, aka, heir-apparent Poppy)?

Time for ALL to stop with the love for Ronnie. Hint, hint.

9. they wouldn't know or understand any of those facts
the GOP these days isn't thinking straight, they're not seeing things that are right in front of their face, and they're believing the most preposterous crap you ever saw.

16. By teabagger standards (if that exists) - HELL YES! He would be railroaded now.
They hold him up as the god of conservatism but he was a liberal by what they use as a benchmark now.

11. Why not? It's the facade that's important, not the underlying facts...
...besides, growing the parts of government that favor the wealthy elite is A-OK with them. It's the parts that go to ordinary people that they hate.

12. Ronald Reagan was hand picked by a group of Western extremely rich
Edited on Tue Oct-19-10 12:00 PM by old mark
righwingers to do just what he did - lead the nation way to the right. Nixon was thought to be too liberal, and they were seeking THE candidate who could be relied on to do what they wanted him to do. He was that man, and he did what they told him, and we all moved to the right where we still are. He was their perfect tool; a compliant whore who looked great in a suit.

If they could dig him up and re-animate him, they would make him king forever.

13. hard to tell
Reagan may have been a very different person had he been born 30 years later than he was. If he had the same values as he did back in the 1980s then probably he would be too liberal and compromising for the modern party. However transported through time, he maybe more like conservatives of this era and viewed the world and politics differently and more like a modern conservative. My gut tells me his hatred of the new deal and his dislike for the rich paying taxes would make him more likely to fall into the modern conservative movement and his policies in other areas like the cold war or dealing with a powerful liberal senate (neither that exist anymore) would be really relevant.

18. Horse shit.
He was a vile evil fuck. During a time when most are pretty liberal in their life, he was working as a secret informer for McCarthy working to black list anyone who wasn't right enough in hollywood. He did this while working as the president of the screen actors guild union. Thats' right folks - Reagan was a union boss and while he was he was narcing to this countries version of PolPot.

So fuck Reagan, the horse he road in on, his sponsors/owners, his wife, his kids, his friends and anyone who makes excuses for the assbag.

Snort, ramble, grunt, moan, shudder, drool.
