A problem to be solved

The hue of my skin is not a problem that needs to be solved.

My gender is not a problem that needs to be solved.

My sexuality is not a problem that needs to be solved.


The solution will never come from legitimizing the problem. Bigots should never be appeased. There's nothing blissful about the harm caused by ignorance. Racism isn't a valid way of thinking.


Calling me a special interest group is just another way of saying I'm less.

Less a person.

Less a citizen.

Less than you.


Bigotry never takes a day off, so the struggle against bigotry must go on - day in and day out.
Bigotry never lets up - so the struggle against bigotry must never let up.


Bigots demand the right to discriminate and oppress. Bigots think murder is a justifiable response to a wink or a look - real or imaginary. Children are driven to suicide because of the brutality of bigots. Bigots don't take a small victory and then give it a rest - they double their efforts to cause even more harm. So we can't take a rest either.


Remaining silent is not an option.


Silence is a death sentence. Sometimes the death of the body but always the death of self.

Bigotry doesn't take over this country. But it has sure reared its ugly head of late. Religious Bigotry as well as Racial, Gender, all of it. Our country will not survive if it continues to grow and fester.
