Indian billionaire builds skyscraper "home" with space for 169 cars: cost = $2 billion

With a net worth of 62 billion dollars, Indian business tycoon Mukesh Ambani is ranked behind Mexican Carlos Slim Helu and America’s Bill Gates and Warren Buffett as the world’s richest man. But according to a forecast by the prestigious Forbes magazine, head of India-based petrochemical giant Reliance Industries is set to be richest man on earth come 2014.

Like many families with the means to do so, the Ambanis wanted to build a custom home...Plans were then drawn up for what will soon be the world’s largest and most expensive home: a 27-storey skyscraper in downtown Mumbai with a cost nearing $2 billion.

Garage

The first six floors of the residence will be dedicated to parking for the Ambani family, guests and employees. Space for a total of 168 imported cars has been earmarked here.

2. Too much corruption.....
Probably doesnt pay any. Too much wealth concentrated in the hands of a fews. And yet millions live in poverty. Truly sad.

5. Sickens me...
How we refuse to raises taxes on the ultra-wealthy so others can have their basic needs met.

18. Absolutely agree!
What is this, the early 1960s again?! It looks like all those "modernistic" design from back then. I take it he's never seen the blog Treehugger.com for better design ideas ;)

Maybe we'll be seeing him featured on Unhappy Hipsters soon :P

12. A networth of $62,000,000,000 and he's not even as rich as at least* two Americans....
...At the same time, his people suffer, just like the American poor.

Why does someone need a $2,000,000,000 home? Why 168 automobiles?

If I can afford a $138,000 WEEKLY operating cost on my yacht (Paul Allen), can't I afford to pay a little more in taxes to support the nation that made me this wealthy?

Guess what? Most of the wealthies feel they should pay more. Only a small handful are controlling the agenda, and driving it to server their own greed.

* Such accountings difficult to measure regarding family wealth. The Kochs, Walton's and others combined wealth changes the results.
