Just announced: Southwest just bought AirTran
http://blogs.wsj.com/deals/2010/09/27/southwest-airtran-deltas-nightmare-year-continues/

Delta is taking a hit as a result as it puts some very stiff price competition right into Atlanta.

2. Stinky
Delta was the ones who started that "luggage fee" shit too.

And the other airlines followed their lead -- EXCEPT Southwest.

It's gonna be interesting.....

3. Delta deserves to get their asses kicked. They still live in 1985.
Southwest is where flying is now. AirTran and jetBlue are the result. Now it will be just JetBlue and Southwest.

5. "Thank you for flying ValuJet", Michael Moore says.
AirTran used to be ValuJet. They changed their name after the horrific crash in the Florida Everglades that you may remember.

7. Probably a Good Thing
Southwest, as a corporation, seems to be able to make money pretty much hand over fist while the rest of the "big" airlines out there struggle despite tacking on more and more additional fees.

10. and they do it with some of the highest wages in the industry
Funny how having a workforce that isn't completely disgruntled and angry can work out.

9. Giving Southwest a larger club to beat the legacies with can only be good
and before the uninformed begin to whine Southwest is contrary to popular belief unionized.

Delta Airlines on dropping my passport behind the podium while boarding an international flight:
"Don't hold up my line asshole, check the lost-and-found when you get back"
