Time to give the Statue of Liberty back to France.

Considering the stance of many Americans on immigration and the growing xenophobia that exists, perhaps it is time to give the lady in the harbor back to France.

Granted that the US has, since the start of this country, taken a very hostile view of people coming in, the present situation makes a mockery of the statue and the inscription.

Once, for a very short time, that inscription may have been true. Now this country is like an armed fortress against the world.

We've become crazy-bad about illegal immigration, yeah.

But there are still over a million legal immigrants to the U.S. annually.

And since France is not really big on immigration (witness throwing out the Roma), I don't think I'm willing to give the statue back to them.

The creepiest thing about Whitestock was his use of a video that had a "patriotic" voice over but showed images of immigrants, poor people and black people. It was obviously meant to stir up freaker anger subconsciously and the Lady was mixed in there with the rest.
