My Company Lost a Co-Worker Wendsday

DAYTON, Ohio -- An accident involving an elevator that moves baggage at Dayton International Airport killed an employee, officials said Thursday.

The employee of Pinnacle Airlines, a regional airline based in Memphis, Tenn., was injured Wednesday and died several hours later, the airline said. The woman's identity was not released.

"We are incredibly saddened by this tragic loss," said Philip Trenary, airline president.

Pinnacle spokesman Philip Reed and airport spokeswoman Sharon Sears said they did not know how the accident happened. Sears said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was investigating.

The small elevator is in an area that is inaccessible to passengers, and it is used to transport luggage at the airport to a ramp, where it is moved for loading onto departing airplanes.

3. Oh, damn, you just never know, do you? People work around equipment every day,
and then one day it kills them.

My condolences to her family and co-workers.
