Dear Ebay, please take all of your Hong Kong listings and
gently put them where the sun doesn't shine. I was burned by OOC ordering on a supposed large capacity memory stick, now when I try to find an led flashlight I am Hong Kong bombed by your listings. I will not ever again look at an OOC listing, so if you think having hundreds of Ebay listings with the seller based in Hong Kong think again. Burn me once shame on you, burn me twice, er what was it shrub said??

1. Ok...
But it might do more good if you posted that on Ebay.

2. I've gotten several items without a problem.
But I check seller ratings and other things before I order.

5. this is not an endorsement or anything
but for what it's worth, i've ordered a couple of things from hong kong with no problem at all, one actually came packaged so carefully, it just seemed so, I don't have the language to have a better word than this, "Asian" sorry if that sounds stereotypical, it just reminded me of things wrapped up and packed so neatly when I was in okinawa.

6. I've bought AND sold merchandise from OOC eBayers...
...but Hong Kong, for some reason, has some of the wonkiest eBayers I've ever run across.

I think I have done some decent business with one or two of them, but overall it seems a bit skittish over there.

8. No, I'm saying this was a counterfeit 128gb mem stick, no question
about it... and this sellers rating was impeccable.

What does OCC mean? I got a GREAT external HD from a company in the US who seem to have scads of computer stuff (great price, fast shipping, very happy w/that seller). If you'd like me to look him/her up, let me know.

12. I've bought some things that were from Hong Kong on Ebay.
The first time I didn't realize it, and the shipping took over 2 weeks. It was a cell phone that stopped working after 4 months. I decided not to deal with them again.

Also bought a pet product that was much cheaper ($7.50) than it would have been in the US.

13. did you consider the brand name or anything like that ?
i usually look at similar items also and if one tends to be a lot cheaper i take a better look or ask questions from the person selling.

16. You can filter them out..
Edited on Mon Sep-20-10 06:16 PM by SlipperySlope
I've bought a lot of things on eBay from Hong Kong. Haven't had a problem yet with any counterfeit items, but I'm choosy about which sellers I buy from. Quality is generally pretty good so long as you know what to expect. I'm generally purchasing small electronics components.

That said, you can easily filter these sellers out. After you do a search for your item look at the column on the left. One of the options near the bottom is "Location". You can change that to United States only if you prefer.

17. As an avid coin collector....
China is notorious for selling counterfeit coins. They're even counterfeiting certification slabs from PCGS (and God knows who else).
