Oooh oooh let's not piss our opponents off, oooh oooh let's be nice.
White House official denies Tea Party-focused ad campaign

top White House official sharply denied a report that claims President Obama's political advisers are weighing a national television advertising campaign that would portray the Republican Party as dominated by Tea Party activists.

The article, published online in the New York Times on Sunday, says strategists are looking to capitalize on the inner-GOP sniping that has increased with the Tea Party's recent primary wins.

The tension was on full display over the weekend, with Delaware Senate primary winner Christine O'Donnell backing out of scheduled talk show appearances, and Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski accusing the Tea Party Express of infusing money and lies into her Republican primary to swing it against her.

Inner-GOP sniping increases in wake of Tea Party successes

The White House official says it "is simply not true" that such an ad campaign is under consideration. Such a move would be controversial because it would further nationalize the midterm elections, a risky strategy for Democrats given the shaky economy that has already put them on the defense.

A second Democratic official involved in Congressional campaigns backed up the White House account that while some strategists may be speculating about the merits of such an ad campaign, such a move has not gotten heavy consideration by top party officials.

http://edition.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/09/20/democrats.ad.campaign/

Newt Gingrich is using outright racist lies against the President, Beck and the rest of the Reich-wing is undermining him 24/7, and the White House doesn't want to piss off the Pukes by tying them to the baggers.

What the fuck is wrong with the advisors to the President? GO FOR THE THROAT. We have everything to lose to these assholes.

1. I think I'll let the President and his advisors decide how they
want to campaign, since going for the throat seems to work out oh, so well in other venues. I'd advise them to avoid taking campaign advice from online discussion forums.

28. How about this quote from August 31st 2010:
"No one can doubt President Bush's support for our troops or his love of country and commitment to our security."

Wow, that one was sure hard hitting. Strong criticism of the worst President in history and a war criminal to boot.

I'll grant you that on the whole Obama has been less conciliatory toward the R's lately than in the past, but statements like that one ought to give any thinking person pause.

When confronted with this, he said it was an error, and had his name removed.

So, go ahead and attack.. I really no longer give a flying fuck.

I understand that Republicans benefit from attacking an elected official's reputation. What would Obama gain from associating himself with an ad that attacks the Teabaggers?

P.S. Even George W. Bush* rarely attacked voters who opposed him or even other elected officials, which left pundits, activists, talk show hosts, hacks, and representatives in safe districts to fill in.

39. This thread deals too much with....
what Obama and the DLC should do.

How about some Dem Astroturf group popping up and just going after the Repubs/Teabaggers like pitbulls after grannies?

Get some plausible distance between Obama and this group, so he can look baffled/shocked by their venom, but have the astroturf
group put all the tape clips together of Weird Teabaggery and flood the Cable and Internet with it. No need to be responsible.... or fair.... or even truthful. After all, we now know that anything goes.

Why doesn't the Left have the same number of bullshit viral emails floating around about Palin/O'Donnell, Gingrich, et al. as the Right has floating around about Obama? After getting maybe 100 of those viral rightwingnut emails (not one true.. thank you snopes, politifact, factcheck, and answer.com) I made up and sent one that said that Bush was gay. Shiiiit, you'd have thought I personally had "poisoned the political dialogue".... that from somebody who has sent several emails about Obama being Muslim and those doctored pics of the Obamas in pimp/ho attire.

Our old gunny taught us that the time to really kick somebody in the head is when they are down... and the Repubs/Teabaggers have enough problems right now to qualify as "down".

46. Another never-ending debate of our time...
(Bad boxing metaphor follows...)

In this corner, we have the crowd who would have liked nothing more than to have seen the Democrats arise, en masse, and pound the livin' shit out of DeMented when he made an ass of himself at the State of the Union address. And then wait at the door, after the address, to pound the livin' shit out him again. (Metaphorically speaking, of course.)

In the other corner, we have the folks who decry the cheapening of political discourse and point out that, in fighting the enemy, we must not become the enemy. The Truth ™ will, in the long run, prevail. Until then, treat them with respect and turn the other cheek until you run out of cheeks because someone, somewhere might not like it and we'll lose control of the Senate, the House, the Executive, the Supreme Court, and the Department of Fertilizer Tasting.

In the first corner, the crowd is shouting "Enough is enough! Unload on him!" In the other corner, they're counseling "Be patient! Go for the clinches! He'll wear himself out eventually! The people will love if you do this!"

The problem I see is that they're not wearing themselves out. They're getting stronger, and some on our side are even slipping them brass knuckles to tuck in their gloves. And the more people see that one of the sides isn't even fighting back, the more they start to wonder why they're even in the ring.

Enough is enough. Squash 'em squishy. At every opportunity. I respect the rebubbalickins just enough to know they'd gladly do the same for us.

56. Teabaggers=republicans, so why try to push it? Everyone can see it.

61. I think it is wise to let the Teapubbags have the spotlight for a while...
They are looking more ridiculous all the time. Going after them at this point would just embolden them. Wait until it's a little closer to election time, and then use their words against them.

That would be my approach...but then with this administration, it's anyone's guess as to their plan. If there is one.

Marginalize the teabaggers by not even mentioning them.
