PG&E consumer watchdog killed in SF gas pipeline explosion
Woman, child feared dead in massive Calif. blast
Last Modified: Friday, Sep. 10, 2010 - 6:55 pm

FRESNO, Calif. -- Colleagues described her as a tenacious watchdog who spoke up to protect consumers from soaring monthly gas bills or dangerous pipeline expansions.

Friday, relatives feared longtime California Public Utilities Commission employee Jacqueline Greig and her daughter were among those killed in a massive blast that ripped through her neighborhood, the very type of disaster her work sought to prevent.

Agustin Macedo of San Francisco told The Associated Press on Friday that Greig, who is his 44-year-old daughter, and his granddaughter died in the blast. Colleagues described Greig was a well-respected public servant who played a key role in encouraging PG&E and other investor-owned utilities to adopt consumer and environmental protections.

"She was the lead advocate for natural gas cases, so we worked very very closely with her," said Mark Toney, executive director of The Utility Reform Network, a San Francisco-based nonprofit consumer advocacy group. "We just feel awful about this, for her, for her family and for the division."

3. Although the loss of life in a tragedy is sad.
That seems to be like how Kahdafi adopted someone killed in a bombing raid after the fact, in the 80s for PR purposes.

Peace and comfort to those that lost family in such tragedies.

11. Then If that is correct then the propaganda would be the people that spread the information
Edited on Sat Sep-11-10 04:03 PM by RandomThoughts
That my statement came from. It goes to those that spread false information being responsible for people that believe it with better intents and end up doing wrong from that belief. Also how two sides of a conflict can both be correct and wrong, when people try to do the best they can with the information they have. And why to try and be nice, to avoid that trap when a person is led wrong.

Not sure which story is correct, but as you post, I agree retaliation is the cycle of violence, and creates more violence.

7. The TV Talking heads I have watched have mentioned her and her daughter, but
No discussion of what her life work was.

What a huge irony. And of course a tragedy.

Such a senseless catastrophe for everyone who was living there.

And Can anything be more stupid than our nation fighting wars for oil, when the money we spend doing that could be used for each home, condo and apartment to be rigged with safe solar and safe wind turbines? (This area of the SF Bay gets more than its share of wind.)

one message after another trying to figure out where she (and I guess her daughter) was.

and a Twitter employee lost two relatives and was heartbreaking to see his tweets saying they were missing.

Janessa was just 20, from what I've heard from a friend, her boyfriend is suffering from 50% burns. Look what awful news this poor boy is going to wake up to.
