Poll question: Let's settle this: who here's not voting for Democrats in November?
My eyeballs roll back in my head every time I read yet another post about how important it is for DUers to vote for Democrats in November.

No kidding. Today's elected Democrats are, by-and-large, Reagan Republicans who have serious issues with honesty, and they need to be replaced by the real deal. But today's Republicans make rabid raccoons seem pleasant and smart - instead of shitty 300-dimensional chess we'll have an instantaneous multi-megaton clusterfuck.

Is anyone here actually planning to not vote for Democrats? Can we put the "oh please vote for Democrats" thing to bed?

4. Why does this question even have to be asked on DU?
I mean really.

And I do agree that most of the Dems in Congress are not progressives - but as you say, Republicans make rabid raccoons look good.

And what a great idea for a bumper sticker -

GOP - The Rabid Raccoon Party

16. I've seen some people make a big noise about voting Green or not voting at all
I read the OP's question as a reference to that sort of mentality.

5. I don't think DU is the place you'll get a fair picture of
Nov. Most people here, even those who are angriest toward the Dems in office, still hate the PUBS a lot more.

And I'll obviously be voting for Democrats, even for nominal Democrat Jason Altmire, because numbers matter.

12. We don't really have long lines around here.
Reasonably good turnout, but it's a small town. And, sadly, my county tends to vote to the Right.

21. You're right of course, and more's the pity
I was thinking of any election day in my county, but certainly there's no throng waiting at 8:00AM to bust down the door of the polling place.

9. Dems only.
Fortunately, I don't have to do any nose holding here in Minnesota's 5th Congressional District

Voting to re-elect Keith Ellison to the House of Representatives and voting to put Senator Mark Dayton in the Governor's Office.

19. It's a well-established technique in the modern interview process
Diane Sawyer, a pseudo-journalist whose best days are far behind her, rolls out one of these in just about every interview:

For example: "Mr. President (GWB), did you lie about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?"

Mysteriously, this tactic is taken as an indicator of a hard-hitting, take-no-prisoners attitude, when in fact it's a stupid technique. No one in the world--not even someone as dumb as GWB--would stumble and answer such a question honestly.

However, I believe that the OP's question makes a different point: it addresses the preponderance of "Don't forget to Vote" threads that we've seen lately as well as the "I'm staying home in November" posts that we've seen as well.

28. I'm voting Democratic for my Congress critter. I may vote Democratic for the Governor.
But in the presidential election of 2012 I'm going to vote 3rd party.

That being said, my Congress Critter is about as good as it gets in the South: pro-gay and anti-war spending.

On the whole though, I don't think voting is important. The best thing we can accomplish is staving off fascism. Maybe.

34. Primarily for Democrats, yes
I'll probably just have to abstain from voting for Senate, because I am NOT voting for Brad Ellsworth. We have one DINO (Bayh) about to either be replaced by a Repuke or another DINO, so basically, just typical shit-sandwich equilibrium here in Indiana politics.
