...so I didn't get to hear this. But the comparison is actually pretty accurate, but I too am suprised to hear it on TV. Many mainstream sources shy away from comparisons of fundamentalist Christian fanatics to the extremeist Islamists. Both want the same thing, a theocratic state.

3. I Sure Hope So Nadin, It's A Long Time Coming, But The Timing Couldn't Be Better

If it is in fact happening.

I have a feeling we've seen the loons reach their crest and from here on out (I hope) we will see a sustained and coordinated Democratic assault that is centered around the extremeisim that is the current Repub/Tea party. I've been seeing signs that this is coming and I think/suspect the real roll out is starting going into Labor day (which would be the smart thing to do timing-wise).

If handled competently (ha!) it could be very effective.

4. Those promoting prayer in schools and other arguments...

...against church/state separation have gained support from many Christians, and many of them don't even realize they're embracing some elements of the Third Wave, Dominionist, Reconstructionist theology that many mainstream denominations actually condemn as heretical and dangerous.

I hope you're right about the turning point, Nadin--and that this is just the beginning of a public discussion of these issues.
