7. Social Security would be fine, if it didn't intersect with Congress

and Federal spending. Establish a Social Security institution, like the Post Office, and let an independent group of people run it. Can't be worse than Congressional control.

11. Who cares? I'm told that you can't do anything without huge majorities in both

the Senate and House, and the Presidency. A minority party can, I'm told, not only block your legislation, but force extreme "compromise". Social Security cuts would be an enormous political move-- much bigger than the things we're told the Democrats can't presently accomplish because of their not-quite-stunning majorities. Why should I be scared if those things are true, and the Democrats are determined to save Social Security?

This may be the most cynical piece of politics I've seen since Healthcare-- er-- Health Insurance Reform.

The Democratic leadership has put all the pieces in place to make Social Security cuts after the elections, but they're actually running on "saving Social Security" from those mean Republicans. And if it works, they'll make their cuts and call that "saving Social Security".
