Target [sort of] apologizes for donation
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Target Corp. is apologizing for a political donation to a conservative group that angered some employees and sparked talk of a customer boycott.

Chairman and Chief Executive Gregg Steinhafel wrote to employees on Thursday to say the company was "genuinely sorry" that the donation upset some employees.

Steinhafel also said Target would set up a review process for future political donations.

Target gave $150,000 to MN Forward, a group that is running ads for a Republican gubernatorial candidate who opposes gay marriage.

2. "We're sorry you were upset" is not an apology
This isn't all that tough, Mr. Steinhafel. Get your money back, and quit financially supporting bigotry.

5. which translates to "we are sorry as hell you found out...."
Period. If the USSC manages to take away any ability to identify donations, we are damned sunk.

3. This is why corporate donations need to be disclosed to the electorate.
To be held responsible.

7. Maybe they won't do it again, then?
I'd accept a half hearted apology if it's coupled with a decision to not kick that hornet's nest twice.

10. Everyone I know in Minnesota say they are still not going to Target
that if the guy didn't want Emmer to win he wouldn't have donated in the first place. And Emmer being in office would be 100 times worst than even Phewlenty.

12. That sounds like one of those non-apology apologies... you know
"I'm sorry you were offended", not "I'm sorry we were offensive".
