Hey Charlie Rangel
No matter what good you did over these past decades - and you did good

No matter how many dues you paid - and you paid your dues

It is your arrogance, hubris, greed and sense of entitlement which has brought you here. Now just STFU, resign and walk away. You are not more important than the party. Further if you loved the party, you would not attempt to defend the indefensible.

It is you who destroyed your own name. Now fuck off and get out of the way!!

1. Come on, the guy is 80. So he parked his car somewhere he wasn't supposed
to. Big deal. He's old. Let him alone.

4. Exactly right...
It's all over once the age card is drawn... there's no going back... no fountain of youth... no magic herb...

2. Agreed, his quote in "Fahrenheit 9/11" always bugged me.
Not that he was wrong, it was just the smarmy way he said it.

5. Term limits?
It seems that all those factors of arrogance, hubris, greed and sense of entitlement grow with each passing year in office. Maybe its happens after years of ass kissing and the deference from staff and lobbyists and the public, and having that wonderful ability that most of us don't experience - spending other peoples' money. Corruption grows on elected officials like mold in a damp basement. Give them 6 years max total in office and then they must leave and new blood comes in. Honestly I'm sick of looking at the same Senators and Representatives faces telling us how things should be.

6. Why are you and others
so quick to judge Charlie Rangel? Let the ethics committee determine if he violated any rule or law. I have always thought highly of Charlie and he has always been on my side of the issues in congress. He doesn't have to resign if he believes that he has been unfairly charged.

9. I doubt their verdict will be one of 'guilt' or innocence
It's still murky whether he'd survive a real prosecution on the charges. I think he might. Otherwise, they'd just let the Justice Dept. follow through to prosecution. I've always found the congressional 'ethics' committees laughable. And the charges? Unreported income? A vote favoring a contributor? Heaven forbid!

10. I reviewed the allegations on the C_SPAN
website and, with my limited understanding, it was difficult to determine the cause for concern. Let the congress review this and see if Charlie violated ethics rules. Perhaps Charlie, like myself, doesn't understand the allegations.

11. Why should the news have the final word?
It seems to me that any question like this deserves a complete investigation before anyone resigns.
Charlie's done a lot for all of us & doesn't deserve the kind of invective I'm seeing here.

As for term limits. They are UnConstitutional or will be found so one day. I want to be able
to vote for who ever the hell I want to. If a majority wants to give someone 6 terms then he should
get six terms. There shouldn't be anyone that can tell that majority that your guy only gets 2 terms.

12. Lets leave this issue
To more knowledgeable and trusted members of congress to resolve. We owe Charlie our respect for his years of service to this country, including his active participation in the Korean War. Give the man a chance.
