Elizabeth Warren's appointment -- Is the hesitancy sexism?
Am I wrong, or was it Larry Summers who said women can't do math?

Well, I have news for him. I am from a long line of women who are very good at math, thank you. Very, very good. -- I remember my embarrassment, how I was teased in high school, because I was good at math. The boys were really jealous. I deeply resent the stereotyping of women as "bad at math." Got nothing to do with our gender, thank you.

Obama should just appoint Elizabeth Warren and be done with it. It's the right thing to do.

The National Organization for Women is asking whether President Barack Obama's apparent reluctance to nominate Elizabeth Warren to head a new consumer agency is due to sexism, according to an email the group sent supporters Tuesday.

The noted consumer advocate, Wall Street bailout watchdog and Harvard Law professor is one of three candidates the White House has identified as leading contenders to head the newly-created Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The agency, conceived by Warren in a 2007 article, was created as part of the financial reform bill Obama last week signed into law.

Bank lobbies fought to kill the agency while it was under consideration in Congress, and have expressed concern with a Warren nomination. The agency will regulate consumer credit products like mortgages and credit cards and some fear she could be too aggressive in protecting consumers from dubious lending practices, cutting off key sources of profitability for banks.

2. I doubt it. She is just not compliant enough. If they could find
a woman who would not give Geithner et al a hard time, as Elizabeth did, they would appoint here in a second.

She will not look the other way when they are up to their old tricks, she isn't part of the club which she has made clear. That is the reason why he has not yet appointed her. His Wall St. buddies want an insider who 'understands the game'.

She is for the people. That cannot be allowed.

3. Nope, she is a threat to the status quo that is broadly respected
and even "trusted" by some of the "saner" Republicans.

In the top circles it's all about if you play ball or not. They could give a shit about race, plumbing, who you fuck, or who you pray to or if you do at all.

4. i am pretty sure her sex has nothing to do with it. the fact that she wants to protect the consumer
is the issue. they want someone who will tow the line and they know she won't go along with that. that is why they don't want her there.
