A non-political question
Okay, DUers. I need to get the carcass of my dead car removed. One of the guys offered me $50 more than the junkyard would pay for it, so I need to find out how much the car weighs. The websites I've found haven't been much help, they don't go back to '93. Suggestions?

And thanks!

5. Yeah, but such parameters won't allow for full estimates of weight ...
it depends on how many old McDondalds wrappers are stuffed into the back seats.

13. 4634 lb curb weight

Probably varied by options by a couple hundred pounds either way, also not dry weight, so that's with a full tank of fuel. Close, at least.

2. What about getting a free tow by donating it to a charity?
Then you get some sort of tax deductible receipt for it.

6. Well,
I'd love to donate it, but I need to sell it to the junkyard in order to pay off the note.

3. Call Purple Heart
They tow it and you get a tax deduction that is probably worth more than the 50 or hunnert some tow guy will give you.

11. I believe CWT is the abbreviation for hundredweight.
So 55 would mean it weighs 5500 pounds - which might be true if it is a large vehicle. If that weight doesn't make sense, I'm not really sure how to interpret that 55.

10. You should pick up....
the car, then step on the scale. See how much you and the car weigh, then weigh yourself and subtract your weight from the combined weight. Glad I could help.

P.S. Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

12. Tried that.
But it was one of those fancy audio scales that talks to you, and it told me something vulgar about lobster so I had to disassemble it.

Ah, well.

14. No idea how reliable these sites are:

They seemed pretty close in spec's for the '93, tho the second link didn't specifically say "1500".

http://streetspecs.com/specifications-for/1993-chevrolet-suburban-c1500-2wd : Weight for automatics - 4722 lb

http://www.carsplusplus.com/specs1993/chevrolet_suburban.php : Weight - 4,728.9 pounds
