About 70,000 customers in east Orange County are under a boil-water alert.

The alert was sparked by a power-supply fluctuation that caused an interruption of water service this morning, Orange County Utilities said.

The Orange County Utility customers affected are those in eastern Orange County, south of Lake Underhill Road, west to Hoffner Avenue and east to Alafaya Trail and Moss Park.

Water must be boiled for at least one minute if it is to be used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes, officials said.

The alert will be in effect for at least two days.

For more information, call Orange County Utilities water division at 407-254-9850 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or 407-836-2777 at other times.

1. They found coliform bacteria, most likely
and are tracing the contamination source. Eventually they'll flush the system and you can go back to drinking it out of the tap. If you can.

The water in Florida always gave me the runs.
