On July 13, the
Cincinnati Enquirer reported that conservative radio talk show host Bill Cunningham is developing a daytime TV talk show tentatively titled
Big Willie. Cunningham taped test pilots for his show on June 12 and June 13 in Chicago; however, he stayed away from politics and covered the usual tabloid talk show fiesta of freaks: "The WLW-AM talk host taped shows with "pregnant bad girls" (mothers-to-be who drink); "naughty grandmothers" who work in the porn industry; a 600-pound new mother named Donna; and 58-year-old conjoined twins Donnie and Ronnie Galyon from Dayton." In Cincinnati, the test Cunningham show aired at 3PM on WXIX-TV, the Cincinnati Fox affiliate, at a time normally reserved for reruns of
America's Funniest Home Videos.
Yes, this is the same Bill Cunningham who regularly bashes Obama on the radio:
-
Repeatedly said: "Barack Hussein Obama!" during a John McCain 2008 presidential rally,
- Regarding Obama's absentee father,
responded: "That's what black fathers do. They simply leave,"
- And
regularly promoted "
birther" conspiracy theories and the idea that Obama is a racist (started by Glenn Beck saying Obama had a "deep-seeded hatred for white people" if I'm correct)
Also, Cunningham hates the poor: he said in
October 2008 and
January 2009 that poor people are immoral. In October he said: "...people are poor in America...not because they lack money; they're poor because they lack values, morals, and ethics. And if government can't teach and instill that, we're wasting our time simply giving poor people money." And in January: "They're poor because they lack values, ethics, and morals."
Broadcasting & Cable reported today that the test run was
most successful in Cincy and also in Seattle and Indianapolis. In New Orleans, the show's ratings were above those of its lead-in show.
Phooey. More Jerry Springer/Maury Povich/Ricki Lake/Jenny Jones style garbage polluting the airwaves just like the oil in the Gulf. At least for now Cunningham's new show doesn't really look like Rush Limbaugh's former 1990s TV show (archived clips of which can be found on Youtube.) Oh, the anti-vaccine quack Jenny McCarthy
is getting her own talk show too...produced by Oprah!
