I miss my mom, who has been gone now for 12 years. I have lots of memories of many Mother's Days with her.

Right now, I'm all muddy and scratched up from pruning the blackberries and being on my knees in the flowerbeds, but I'm having the most glorious day a mom can have when her kids can't make it home. We'll talk on the phone later in the day. I'll get to hear about the new job my son started on the west coast, and all about our very new grandson up in Chicago. The sun is shining, there is a fair and cool breeze across the fields, the birds are singing, I'm sipping my iced mocha and munching on some strudel, and ............ I don't have to cook today. Yipppeee!

Happy Mother's day to all, and sweet memories to all of the mothers who have departed but still watch over us and the earth.
