I know it is Arizona but anyone what to DU this one and embarrass the Arizona Republic with less than supportive total for the tea baggers? Poll is on the right down the page slightly.

5. Thing is they did not call the Tea Party racist

they said the Tea Party needed to "Repudiate Racist Acts." It is two very different things so the poll question itself is screwed up. Now if they can't repudiate the racist element within then they are saying it is ok with them and then that would make the Tea Party racist. NAACP so much smarter doing it that way.

20. I was about to say something similar. The NAACP was very careful NOT to call the baggers

racists. And the resolution, as I have heard it described, just says that they want the TP to repudiate any racism. Not an unreasonable request, IMO.

I wonder how the poll would look if the question were framed fairly.

made a good point. You don't have to drop the n-bomb regularly in order to be racist. In addition, promoting policies that have a disparate impact on minorities may result in racist ends.

The Tea Party definitely has racists in their midst. I've seen far too much of their "humor" to feel otherwise.

The fact that they turn a blind eye to it, rather than contest it, pretty much says it all.

I lived in Jim Crow Mississippi and for over 3 years now in Arizona. What I see here is a lot of things I heard back then, and it is getting worse.

1 year in North Florida (think Alabama in terms of attitudes)
