my thread title's a joke of course, but I agree with this article here. Lohan did link to the story, a bunch of people know about the case because of that, and stories were written about Lohan's tweet and still more people know about it because of that. So it's all pretty good...

Even a "Mean Girl" can do good sometimes, even inadvertently.
Lindsay Lohan -- in a childish, whiny tweet over being sentenced to jail Tuesday over two drunken-driving busts -- posted a link on her Twitter account to stories about a 43-year-old Iranian mother who had been condemned to death by stoning for committing adultery.
Less than two days later, Iranian officials announced that the woman, Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, would not be stoned to death. Still, they left unresolved whether she might be put to death by other means.
Organizations campaigning for Ashtiani's release praised attempts such as Lohan's, which urged readers to post the stories on their accounts as well, for putting even more public pressure on the Iranian regime.
"I really think all attention, whether it's from celebrities . . . using the power of their public adoration and interest or millions of everyday citizens who can put pen to paper and demand that this be ended -- I think all attention helps," said Suzanne Trimel of Amnesty International USA.
