Lindsay Lohan saves Iranian woman from being stoned
my thread title's a joke of course, but I agree with this article here. Lohan did link to the story, a bunch of people know about the case because of that, and stories were written about Lohan's tweet and still more people know about it because of that. So it's all pretty good...

Even a "Mean Girl" can do good sometimes, even inadvertently.

Lindsay Lohan -- in a childish, whiny tweet over being sentenced to jail Tuesday over two drunken-driving busts -- posted a link on her Twitter account to stories about a 43-year-old Iranian mother who had been condemned to death by stoning for committing adultery.

Less than two days later, Iranian officials announced that the woman, Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, would not be stoned to death. Still, they left unresolved whether she might be put to death by other means.

Organizations campaigning for Ashtiani's release praised attempts such as Lohan's, which urged readers to post the stories on their accounts as well, for putting even more public pressure on the Iranian regime.

"I really think all attention, whether it's from celebrities . . . using the power of their public adoration and interest or millions of everyday citizens who can put pen to paper and demand that this be ended -- I think all attention helps," said Suzanne Trimel of Amnesty International USA.

3. Gottas agree, Enrique. There's a huge bunch of people who wouldn't have known
without her tweet about it.

7. If she and every other hollywood star did this often, we might get somewhere
I had just written a few days ago, that if she would just turn to the press while they are following her...and say what an embarrassment to our country they are, how they cover stupid celebrity stuff while the world is going to hell...I just bet the press would stop covering her. If every hollywood star did this, the media might have to start covering the news.

Our 'news' is just celebrity BS these days, they really do have power to speak out.

Instead of say.. not wearing underwear, they could instead wear a shirt that says "War is Terrorism" Let's see if that goes viral...
