I hate my local weekly fishwrap...

Just read the not surprising news that economic indicators are once again looking pretty glum.

Also read, in connection with “Agenda 21” legislation supported by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi back in 1993:

Some of her supporting documents stated, “In order to contribute to a transition to an environmentally sustainable US economy, the research and policy initiatives urged in Agenda 21 should be pursued, including research on environmentally sustainable consumption patterns, identification of a strategy to eliminate or reduce subsidies for unsustainable natural resource exploitation, and move toward pricing policies that more truly reflect environmental costs.”

“The Congress should adopt a system to reallocate an appropriate amount of savings from reduced defense spending in order to achieve the goals of Agenda 21 for global environmental protection and sustainable development over the next decade.”

Got to thinking about that, and then it hit like a ton of bricks!

Inflation? Joblessness? Empty national pockets? Environ-mentally sustainable consumption patterns?

All brought about by “a strategy to move toward pricing policies that more truly reflect environmental costs?”

Pelosi and friends must be elated by what they have wrought! It all fits. Gas and oil prices were too low. It wasn’t the greedy oil barons behind the huge increases at all, although they may have helped. Bet dollars to donuts it was all brought about by Pelosi and her Agenda 21 friends in the name of bringing about “environmentally sustainable consumption patterns.”

Of course! Pelosi’s Cap and Trade, Agenda 21 shoe fits! If none of us have money to spend we won’t be depleting our world’s precious natural resources, and once Americans are brought down to the level of poorer economies, we won’t be using more than our “fair share” of the Earth’s resources. We can all be Third World nations together!

How diabolically clever! And it worked.

Now then, America...Is there anything we can to to change our rapid slide down the path Pelosi and friends have set us on?

Thank goodness the estimable men and women we’ve chosen to represent our interests in Washington have gone home for the summer. They won’t be doing any more damage for a few months. Maybe during this little breather, legislators who prefer a world of peace and plenty can come up with a plan.

Meanwhile, it’s terrifying that Pelosi, the very woman who recently said unemployment compensation helps create jobs, stands third in line to become President of the United States. Only President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden stand in her way! Long may they live

:tinfoilhat: I think her tinfoil hat is cutting off the circulation to her brain.

1. Trenchant, insightful analysis
Of just about everything except one key phrase, "savings from reduced defense spending."

But Cthulu forbid that operating costs for personal automobiles enjoy less of a blanket subsidy. Freeeeeeeduuuuuumb!
