Truth seekers dying for the truth?
Edited on Sat Jun-26-10 10:27 AM by bobthedrummer
The right to know the truth, to be part of an informed citizenry for the continued adaptation and refinement of democracy in The United States of America has been over, in the MSM, for some years.

How are we, the people to hold "leadership" accountable to the rule of law-which apparently no longer applies since BUSH/CHENEY et al and the "Global War on Terror" brought about the privatization (neo-feudalism imo) of everything--when extreme measures are "routinely" taken to prevent publicizing critical reports, investigations and even references to well established previous works?

This thread is for everyone that is a truth seeker, those who desire a restoration of a free press, accountability and everything else that our leadership (theoretically ourselves) has sworn to preserve, protect and defend.

There are a few websites that have been helpful, to me, over the years in a search for answers. Below are just a few-add your own to this thread.

Cryptome
http://www.cryptome.org/

CREW
http://www.citizensforethics.org/

The National Security Archive
http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/

Pro Publica
http://www.propublica.org

The Center for Media and Democracy (Source Watch)
http://www.sourcewatch.org

It is no "paranoid conspiracy theory" to document the extreme, often deadly measures that have been taken against people and groups that have published what "the powers that be" never wanted to become known.

There is a Wikipedia page on prior restraint, that is when things reached the point of going to court to prevent publication
Prior Restraint (Wikipedia)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prior_restraint
but what about all the people (and often family and friends) that were permanently "silenced"?

I consider Gary Webb to be one, he worked with Georg Hodel-Robert Parry (another brave investigative reporter indeed) republished an article written by Hodel (originally published in the summer of 1997) last week after Hodel's death.
Hung Out to Dry by Georg Hodel(6-22-10 Consortium News)
http://www.consortiumnews.com/2010/062210b.html
That was just one example-post your own and let this thread grow over the weekend if you love the truth.
Link to your own trusted sources so that all of US that care can utililize them.

1. Kim Kardashian

Thoughts of her have filled my head,
Pushing out all treasonous dread.
I see that now I am completely free,
to borrow and consume like crazy.
Forgetting my place in democracy,
my big role as a brain-dead zombie.

6. Yep, I put that in the context of "privatization", "neo-feudalism" etc.
Then there's "advertising"-but in the context of brainwashing, political mind control, propaganda etc.
So (somewhat off topic here) what is to be done about it-or is this only to continue and worsen?
Who in the MSM is doing anything aside from "system maintenance"?

No one.

7. See post 6, we agree on that. I'm more into the fact that people have been murdered, by nefarious
ways-and those of us that never give up bringing this to the attention of "government" (often the real criminals) are at risk.
That's the real topic to discuss in this thread.

8. "extreme measures are "routinely" taken to prevent publicizing critical reports,
investigations and even references to well established previous works."

The most ingenious measure they ever devised has been to perpetrate the meme that any knowledge the conspirators want suppressed is to charge those who engage in breeches of secrecy with loony toons conspiracy nutballism. Automatic brain lock down, even though everyone knows the media, corporations and politicians conspire to suppress anything they can't spin to their advantage.

9. The Center for Public Integrity.
Many ongoing and in depth projects. Quote Broken Government here all the time.

<http://www.publicintegrity.org/>

Familiar with most of the sites you've shared, ProPublica is especially informative. I'll check out cryptome and the wiki feature. Too timid to go digging around the archives, every time I post about the OCC, my computer gets hiccups.

Compelled to mention the diverse work of DU member BradBlog. He works on a lot of burners between his bird dogging the integrity of both the electoral process and our oh so bogus media while taking on the two tasks of the green news report and the Velvet Revolution. When he's not too busy running all that, he's been known to fill in for Mike Malloy now and again.

Will you be trying to update the blogroll on the home page here? Seems in need of a little updating.

Rec'd.

10. The Committee to Protect Journalists/CPJ website
http://cpj.org

CPJ raises awareness.

No group helped people like Danny Casolaro, Mark Lombardi, James Hatfield, Steve Kangas nor those that seriously question the cluster of deaths among world microbiologists, disinformation regarding political assassinations, the use of medical professionals in torture, and a whole bunch of other "seemingly unrelated", "isolated" events and stories which are operationally labeled as "the lunatic fringe" because there is a discernable pattern of connectivity when it comes to "black operations"-denial at every level of authority, even when some of this information is/was available as open source material.

President Obama has done a 180 when it comes to a promised new culture of transparency-in fact, his administration is actively threatening/silencing investigative activists, whistle blowers and all who have associations with them. That's in The United States of America, so like other nationstates now.

What can be done except to keep publicizing this-regardless of all else--what are other DUers thoughts and related stories on this?

Make a contribution to this thread.

16. What is needed is a competing network that has no corporate
or state influence, and shames the other news/commentary networks with real investigative and truthful reporting. We all should put-up to compete with the false stuffs and nonsense. Organize and fund it somehow. Why should truthseekers and democracy advocates have such a fragmented and tough time?

Should special interests dominate the media, politicians are free to sell-out and become a big part of the corruption problem. Hello?

23. As a related side bar here's Rose Siding's archived thread "Prominent diplomat, publisher missing"
Edited on Tue Jun-29-10 12:36 PM by bobthedrummer
about Philip Merrill ruled a "suicide", among other highly interesting things Richard Bruce Cheney named Merrill to head the US Export-Import Bank in December 2002--he sails out into Chesapeake Bay (where William Colby, John Paisley and others passed away) ties an anchor to his legs and shoots himself, sure...

Support Operations/MISO, and even though psychological operations are illegal in The United States of America they've been with US for quite some time-people have been harmed as a result.
