what about safety standards for cleanup crews, limited press access, letting BP run the FAA and allowing private BP contractors to act like a federal security force on public lands, the permits that were let leading up to this, and the ones that were allowed after it?

1) Make sure BP execs and other guilty parties get properly prosecuted and do prison time for causing the greatest US environmental catastrophe through their greed and negligence (if not outright lawbreaking).

2) Use this opportunity to put the USA on a *real* path to alternative energy.

"Obama is being blamed for the riser" is just a tired old talking point. Where did you hear it?

This is the most powerful national leader in the world but he can't stop turtles being burned alive or ensure that clean up workers get safety gear. Right.
