Dead and Dying Animals are breaking my heart..........
Source: Cnn pictures of animals in oil

Is it just me or am I the only one near tears watching all these beautiful animals taking there last breath on tv. I have never felt so helpless, Theres not a fucking thing anybody can do either. And this is just the beginning, Iam lost for words to my crying children. What do we tell our children?

No link yet.

1. I have a very difficult time watching images like this on television, or seeing pictures
on the internet. The image of that young white Heron, dying slowly in the oil haunts me. I know there's nothing I can do, other than make sure the people responsible pay for what they've done. These creatures are 100% innocent, yet they pay the ultimate price for BP's greed and foolishness.

 I know how you feel, you are not alone. :(

3. I know, it breaks my heart, too.
I guess what you tell the children depends on their age. And I guess you tell them some form of age-appropriate truth. My hope is that our young people will be better stewards of this earth than we have been.

28. Both NWF and the Audubon Society are working in the Gulf
I have seen volunteers and spokespersons of both organizations featured on TV news coverage of the Gulf. You can also check out their webpages to find out more about their activities.

Personally, I just gave $500 to NWF because I am a longtime member and fan, ever since my mother got me a subscription to their Ranger Rick magazine when I was a kid.

32. Text Wildlife to 20222 to donate $10
National Wildlife Federation has a texting setup for donations similar to the one used to raise millions for Haiti. Just by making a donation of whatever amount we can and then passing along the information, we can help these organizations save those wonderful animals.

6. Yes, this is a national disaster and a Greek tragedy
If this country can send man to the moon, develop
nuclear weapons from scratch to subdue the Japanese
emperor, why can't it clean up the oily/gooey mess
floating to the shores? What are the millions of government
workers doing that is more important?

33. then I'm twisted too...
Dear dear Old Vet....

well, I've never had the military experience, but I've always been much more heartbroken by harm to animals. I don't know why. Oh, why ask, it's OK to feel a stronger attachment to them--they're innocent, pure good.

I can't bear to look at any pictures, because I know myself...the image would never leave my mind.

I'm glad there's donation info on this thread.

animals suffer like this.

A lot of oil people and politicians should be in prison for this crime.

13. I had to turn off CNN last night.
I couldn't bear the images. I feel very fortunate to be able to turn away from the images. There are so many people/animals being affected by this who cannot turn away! They are in the thick of it.

What is happening to this country????!!! (Rhetorical question, of course)

14. I now live on the Gulf Coast of Florida
I see these beautiful creatures all around me and even on the lake in my back yard. They are the only things that keeps me sane in this insane state. It really does break my heart.

However, as I said on another thread, these pictures MUST BE SHOWN so mankind NEVER repeats this. This is what GREED does. Maybe we can learn a lesson from this, if it is not too late.

25. You are so right in that they must be shown!
The pitiful part of showing them, however, is that the greedy bastards who created this mess won't be moved by the suffering.

22. Unfortunately, CEO's who are running the show don't have hearts.
They could care less about those birds.

In fact, I can see Dick Cheney being just the kind of cowardly, soulless asshole who is inwardly gleeful over it.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he grabbed his shotgun, went down to the Gulf and opened fire on them, seeing as he's so fond of canned hunting.

May there be a fitting karma for these evil bastards.

26. I can barely look at the photos, and only in limited amounts.
It's heartbreaking seeing the wonderful animals suffering.

I'm 80 miles north of the Gulf. Cranes, gulls and other coastal fowl are here at the lake constantly. Watching the animal and plant life is my favorite part of living here. I'm glad I don't have a place on the beach. I know that stuff has to be headed to Galveston, and it's just more bad news for a town trying to get back from Ike.

29. God, I feel the same way, I love the ocean and how
marine and fish life just live in that area, and man comes along and rapes and kills their home. I had to give a donation today it does not seem enough to know how much devastation they are encountering now.

Also there are some areas which are off limits to journalists the loss of marine and bird life must be horrendous. I know what you mean this is what we are leaving to our kids??? Polluting our oceans and killing these innocent victims.
