Paying attention to the BP Gusher in North Carolina....on tonight's local weather in Raleigh -

I've not seen this yet, but the weather dude in Raleigh on the local news showed the oil flow forecast, indicating a portion is possibly about to reach the loop current...then on to the gulf stream with potential impact on the NC Outer Banks. My wife and I always spend two weeks at Ocracoke island in October (just south of Hatteras Island) - we wonder if we will be helping to clean tar balls off of the beach. What a senseless tragedy.

A computer model released 3 June 2010 by the University Corporation of Atmospheric Research projects the extent of oil spread from the Gulf spill in the coming months. I just watched a PBS special about the Outer Banks and its unique, fragile, diverse aquatic life and coastal areas. I am filled with grief for what has already occurred in the Gulf and the spreading black poison.
