GOP Senator: Patience on Iraq Is Limited

By ANNE FLAHERTY
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate Republican Whip Trent Lott said Monday that President Bush's new strategy in Iraq has until about fall before GOP members will need to see results.

Lott's comment put a fine point on what Senate Republican stalwarts have been discussing quietly for weeks. It also echoed remarks made this weekend by House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, indicating the GOP's limited patience on the war.

"I do think this fall we have to see some significant changes on the ground, in Baghdad and other surrounding areas," Lott, R-Miss., told reporters. snip

Lott said he generally agreed with Boehner, who told "Fox News Sunday" that, "By the time we get to September or October, members are going to want to know how well this is working, and if it isn't, what's Plan B."

4. Well, Plan A was "we'll be greeted as liberators."
There was no Plan B because Rumsfeld said that would amount to "planning for failure."

6. actually the surge could be viewed as "PLAN B"
ok technically the surge is no more than more of the same with a new name.

but the loyal bushies have tried to frame it as a new plan, therefore for political purposes it is Plan B

in any event - there real plan is "OPERATION STOPWATCH": run out the clock and dump it on the next president

3. My god, Trent! Wake the fuck up! There is no plan!
When you are this far down into a dirty grapple with magical thinking, the last thing on your mind is a "plan"! George can fly, didn't you know that? He can walk on water and his shit don't stink! He is down in the bunker snorting anything Karl brings him and when some one yells "Iraq!" he takes another shot of "Old Charred Keg" - that's the gut-roting whiskey that only the true connoisseurs of wickedly vicious-mean drunks prefer. "Plan B", hahahahahaha, Trent don't ride in any little airplanes, ya hear...

5. Bush's only plan is to keep the disaster going until
noon, January 20, 2009, dump it into the lap of his Democratic successor, and then go back to Crawford and start kibitzing.
