Why Are They on TV
This morning NBC's Today Show featured an interview with Tareq and Michaele Salahi. I did not watch the interview; however, I do not see why the Today Show had these people on their show. There are so many important things that are going on in the world. Instead of interviewing the Salahis, the Today Show could have spent more time discussing issues like the oil spill in the Gulf, troops in Iraq or Afganistan, or even the events taking place between North and South Korea. Those stories have more impact on people lives than whatever the Salahis have done or are doing.

1. Because people like you are drawn to them and watch them watch them
And therefore also watch the commercials, which in turn increases advertising revenue.

4. Beltway Masturbation...
It's the same reason they obsess with a failed half-term governor who spews word salads. They're bright shiny toys the corporate media gets fixated with. It's also cheap and lazy "journalism"...a story easy to find and manipulate. It also shows how self absorbed the beltway media types are. Yep, few, if any of us give a tinker's damn about these "political celebrities" but our world is of little consequence to the self important and their flavors of the moment.

6. Why are they on TV?
Because it's titillating and fun and it can be used to bash the current President.
Oh, and because we are truly an extra stupid country.
Lindsay Lohan?
Give me a break.

I guarantee you that a least a third of our population isn't even mildly aware that we have a catastrophe unfolding in the Gulf.
They probably don't even know where the Gulf of Mexico is.
They probably think it's in Mexico, so fuck 'em.
We got troops in Iraq and Afghanistan? Where's that?
North Korea? South Korea?
Isn't that where MASH was filmed?

Did you see "LOST" last night and OMG "24"?

Triple stupid and getting dumber by the day that's what we are as a country.

8. I once heard....
TV shows were created as breaks between commercials. TV itself was invented just to sell sell sell.
